As Pure Connect tries to provide access to many different types of radio streams, it requires the official (and sometimes newer) plugins. There are many plugins compatible with Windows Media content (e.g. VLC or Totem), but unfortunately they are not interchangeable. That is why you should use the official Windows Media Player plugin on Windows. On Mac, we support the Flip4Mac Quicktime extension which provides Windows Media content playability. On Linux, we have yet to find a stable and scriptable plugin.
If you use Firefox or Chrome and the Windows Media Player plugin cannot initialize, the VLC plugin could be the reason why. You can disable the VLC plugin as follows:
Unless you have problems connecting to the Internet, this issue should not appear. If you do get this message, please contact us with details of your operating system, browser and plugins and we will look into it.
We try our best to identify problems that you may encounter. However, with more than 70 combinations of browsers, type of streams and plugins that we try to support, sometimes you may encounter certain issues before we do. So, please help us fix those problems by telling us about it through the PURE support site.
If a firewall is installed on your computer, when clicking on the "Listen Live" buttons you might be prompted whether you want to allow Windows Media Player, Real Player or Quicktime to access the Internet. For that purpose you should allow them.
If you want to make sure that the problem is not with your computer, try to listen to the station from another computer or share it with a friend using the icons below the "Listen Live" button.
You can also contact us to let us know that a stream doesn't work for you. When you do, please let us know what you've tried to do, what browser you are using and which plugins you have installed.
If some streams do not work from within your company network but work from home, and none of your collegues can listen either, then it is very likely that your company network is blocking the streams. In that case, your best chance is to go to the station's official website (use the 'Visit website' link on the station's page) which might give you access to alternate streaming methods that work around the issue.
